We use symbols as tools of understanding. Through attachment of meaning, we are able to visually represent ideas, beliefs, actions, and human experience. This exhibition was influenced by the international collaboration Forty Five Symbols. Twenty students from UH Graphic Design conveyed individual messages about transforming gender, shifting cities, and our changing world. Each individuals forty-five symbols came together to form a sense of global citizenship driven by personal agency. The exhibition featuring 900 symbols is a chronicle of twenty voices addressing the issues of today’s society.
